How to create an Image Map

This tutorial is for learning how to make an Image Map, and will use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. It will probably also work similarly in other versions of PSP, as well. If you do not already have Jasc Paint Shop Pro, you can download a free trial of it at Jasc.com.
First, open Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 and have the image open that you want to map out.
Next, go to the "File" Menu, mouse over "Export" and select "Image Mapper."
This should take you to a new window, which looks like this:

Now, look in the tools area and pick either the puzzle piece (), the square (), or the circle () and draw that shape around the area you want the first link to be on the image.
If at any time you want to erase some line you've made, you can use the Eraser tool ().
Anyway, after you have made that area and are satisfied with it, click in the box next to "url" and enter the web address that you would like to link that part of the image to. If you want some text to appear when that part of the image is moused over, you can enter text into the "alt text" box.
Once you are done with that area, you can continue to make as many areas as you'd like and continue the same process as for the first one.
Make sure you pay attention to the format box, on the right side. If it is set to .gif but you want the image to be .jpg make sure you change it before you press save.
As soon as you are completely done with mapping your image, you can click save. The image and all information you entered will be saved as a .html file; make sure it says that by "save as type." Pick a file name that makes sense with the image and text contained, then press save.
You will then probably have to save the image as well, so just select a file name you want and make sure the file extension (.gif or .jpg, etc..) is what you want.
It'll take you back to the screen you had before, all you have to do is press close and everything's fine.
That's it, it's that simple. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to contact me at jadey213@yahoo.com
