These are a few of the most common ways people will try to use to steal your account and your items.

1.Neositting- Some people post that they will neosit (baby sit) for your pets while you go on a vacation or short trip. Then they say to neomail them if interested. After you neomail them, they say, "Give me your password so I can get into your account to care for your pets and then I will give you my password." That is illegal and dumb because instead of paying for your account to be stolen, you could pay anywhere from 5np and up to have your neopets cared for in the Neopian Hotel.

2. Changing Your Email Address- Some people will neomail you saying that if you change your email address to such-n-such (most likely theirs) then wait for about a half hour, you will have a million neopoints on your account or something like that.It is under no circumstances true.

3. Going To Site And Filling Out Fake Forms- Some people post messages saying to go to such-n-such site, fill out a simple form & then you will become a neo millionaire. The truth is that these sites ask for your neopets user name and password, then they say type in the amount of np you want and what 3 items you want. Then you click submit and they steal your account.

4. Fake Log in Forms In Shops- Some people have fake log in forms that pop up when you enter their shop or when you click on an item in their shop. If you log in with your user name and password it sends the information to their email address and they steal your account. The only way to tell if it is the real log in form is if you look at the navigation bar at the top of your screen (where you type web adresses- or urls) and see that the url of the log in form of the site you are at is http://www.neopets.com/loginpage.phtml

5. The latest scam that I have heard of is gettng emails from fake neopets staff that say stuff like: "Dear neopets user- We regret to inform you, but neopets is getting too crowded so we will have to delete unused accounts. In order to prevent your account being frozen, please reply to this email with your three best accounts' usernames and passwords. Thank you. Sincerely, The Neopets Team" At first I thought that the neopets team was trying to trick me into admitting I had multiple accounts, but then that couldn't be true- I don't have multiple accounts- but then I looked more closely at the email address. Instead of it being from the normal neopets staff (support@neopets.com), it was from some fake neopets people with the email address support_neopets@mail.com and it didn't make much sense in the first place since this person had sent that email to an email account that i had not used to sign up on neopets with, so I was just like, "Duh!! Some people think they're SO smart!" So I suggest you delete these emails unless they are the real thing, from neopets. If you get an email like that, but with a different email address, contact me so i can post up the different email addresses.

6. Here is another example of scam email. This is a letter my friend got. she got it from neopets_freezer@hotmail.com.This is the exact letter she got:
"This is an official NeoPets Warning. You have been reported to us at least three times in the past 24 hours. If you do not reply soon we will be forced to freeze this and all other linking accounts. If you believe you have not done anything wrong please do the following:
1. Write us a letter telling us why we should not freeze your account.
2. In order for us to run a background check on your account we will need your password and username to check the background of your account ( to see if you are innocent)
3. Reply to this with in the next 2-3 minutes or we will automatically have your account frozen!
Adam from the NeoPets"

You can tell that is completely fake, because if the REAL Neopets team had your email address, they would have your other information as well. If you read the letter very carefully, you would see it doesn't make sense at all. Adam is not the frozen account person, Tiffany or something like that is and Neopets doesn't even send you emails to tell you that you have a warning or anything, they send neomails. So please do not pay attention to people who do that.

7. Neomail Scams. Here is an example that Ember showed me:
"Congratulations! You have been chosen to be in the neopets team! However we need to check your account for offensive thing or other rule breaking things. Please send us a reply saying do you want to accept. If you do want to be in the neopets team then send us your password, username too. ~Absen~"
For one thing, things aren't capitalized or formalized in any way. "offensive thing or"- That's a grammatical error. Overall this neomail is incredibly suspicious, and not to mention nonsensical!

8. More scam email. Subject line, "YOU HAVE BEEN REPORTED!!!!!!!" Received from the email address neopets_help_team11@yahoo.com
"You have received an official warning from neopets, There is suspicion of hacking, therefore we would like you to assist us in solving the problem. Please complete the form below to help us verify that you are the owner of the account(s) under this e-mail address. Please reply with the form below completed ************************************************* Mail ID: 73608945(Do not delete this ID) Neopets Username:( ) Password:( )(It's cAsE sEnSitIvE!) Date Of Birth:( ) Email Address:( ) ************************************************** By replying to us, we hope to resolve the problems regarding your account as soon as possible. We ill verify that this is a clean account and a certified NeoMail will be sent to you within 3 working days. our cooperation is greatly appreciated. The NeoPets Team apologizes for the inconvenience caused. Thank You, The Neopets Team"
Once again a dumb email that makes no sense. One thing, the NeoPets Team doesn't have mail IDs. Another, there are at least a dozen grammatical errors in that. "We ill verify" Left out the "w". "within 3 working days. our cooperation" Well, you WRITE OUT numbers under ten. "Three working days", not "3 working days". Left out "Y" in front of "our cooperation". Overall another easy to pick out, poorly organized scam email. I mean, honestly. If there is "suspicion of hacking" what can you, the user do? Nothing. So send in any scams you receive to be added to this page.
